Marilyn Monroe Sculpture In Chicago
A 26-foot-tall (8 m) sculpture of Marilyn Monroe in her iconic 'wind from the subway' pose was unveiled in Chicago. Here we've got some photos of it.
Tiny Heroes Of The Big War
There is a club that deals with making small figures that constitute beautiful dioramas. Its members are elder than 30 years old. The club was started at the Soviet times.Every year less and less veterans who participated in the World War II are left. The youngest war participant in Dnepropetrovsk is now 84 years old. These people’s heroic deeds are captured in miniatures on military and historic themes.
The tiny figures are frozen in time. Before creating such a diorama an author needs to examine old pictures, historic evidence and drawings to achieve a complete identity between real things and their models.
There is a room for fantasy. Snow here can be made of salt.
Parts of such models can be bought in Dnepropetrovsk. There are 5 models in every box. What you need is to assemble the parts together and use a bit of paint. The process will make them alive.
The size of every soldier should not exceed 5 cm.
Every little detail is thought over.

Young people do not seem to be interested in this kind of hobby. But the miniatures can make anyone interested in history.
Field kitchen. The abundance of details is amazing.
Do you see the yellow spots at the background? These are chickens. Too tiny to make a picture of them.
The barbed wire is thorny as it should be.

Such exhibitions are held regularly in spite of the fact there are not many members in the club.
It is planned to arrange another exhibition in Czechia in June 2011.
If we could join in a moment of silence in honor of every person perished at the time of World War II, people around the globe wouldn’t utter a word for 50 years.
